Dong Thap connects the provincial WAN

Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee has chosen Motorola's wi4 Fixed Canopy solution for the provincial government administrative network. The combination of point-to-point and multi-point access wireless broadband systems helps connect the Provincial Data Integration Center with the administrative agencies directly under Dong Thap province.

The deployment of the Dong Thap Canopy network will support a set of three services: high-speed Internet access, voice over IP (VoIP) and television voice over a single broadband platform. In addition to these service systems, Motorola will also provide technical support to ensure the network is always functioning properly.

This wireless broadband network will be deployed in several stages with 10 provincial departments in the first phase. In mid-2007, the connection will be completed to a total of about 30 departments, branches and 10 remote districts.

Currently, the communication system between Dong Thap People's Committee and departments, branches and districts is connected via telephone lines at 64 Kbps or through private leased lines with high costs.

According to Mr. David Knapp, General Director of Motorola Vietnam, not only deploying in Dong Thap, Motorola and its partners will continue to cooperate with other businesses, authorities and suppliers of Vietnam to bring public Wireless broadband technology to other provinces across the country.
