In the early 1980s, the famous sea explorer Jacques Yves Cousteau and his team arrived at Sipadan island off the coast of the Borneo archipelago to film a documentary of crystal clear water here.

One of the main locations filmed in the film is the mysterious underwater cave, where the expedition team has discovered a lot of sea turtle bones. Mr. Cousteau thinks the old turtles may have come here to take their last breath. But in fact, some turtles accidentally slip into the cave and cannot escape. They become disoriented and drown.

The cave entrance is located on a large limestone cliff submerged under the water of about 20 m and the cave has a depth of up to 600m. A large sign at the cave warns less experienced divers not to go inside without proper support equipment.

In the cave is a complex labyrinth with large corridors and chambers. The bottom of the white sand chambers and the remains of the tortoises died long ago. The skeleton of dolphins is also found here.
