Since 2009, Vietnam has started many biofuel projects

In 2009, Vietnam will launch 3 large biofuel projects and next year, many projects to produce ethanol (a " green " fuel) with a capacity of hundreds of millions of liters / year will come into operation.

Reported at the seminar on " Bioenergy - Policy and Technology " (Ho Chi Minh City on October 14), Mr. Huynh Kim Tuoc - Director of HCMC Energy Saving Center said in 2009 in Vietnam. Nam will have 3 biofuel projects in operation. They are: Northern Biofuels and Petroleum Joint Stock Company project with 99.7% ethanol products (scale of 100 million liters / year); Project of Saigon bio-fuel and petrochemical company with scale of 40 million liters / year and Dong Xanh Company Limited project.

In addition, in 2010, it is expected to implement projects of biofuels companies in Central, South and some other projects such as: Petrosetco project (in cooperation with Japan) with capacity of 100 million liters of ethanol / year; Opus securitas Vietnam project with a capacity of 160 million liters of ethanol per year is also expected to be implemented in Quang Ngai and Ho Chi Minh City.

In his report on the ' Biofuels Program and the status of investment in Bioethanol production in Vietnam ', Mr. Huynh Kim Tuoc said: The main task of the Program is to form and develop the industry. Vietnam biofuels industry, building the potential for production is to develop this fuel source. According to Mr. Tuoc, Korea is one of the best cooperation partners in the field of biofuels in Vietnam.

In the context of fossil fuels becoming increasingly exhausted, fuel prices continue to increase today, the research cooperation to find new energy sources, renewable energy to replace traditional energy is an urgent solution. . Bioenergy is generally a renewable energy, considered one of the environmentally friendly fuels.

Therefore, the research and development of bioenergy sources have great significance for energy security issues in the world in general and Vietnam in particular.

At the seminar, experts from countries such as Korea, Indonesia, India presented in turn the experience in the selection of biological materials to produce ethanol, or the innovative studies of the process. dehydration with bioethanol, or the use of marine algae for the development of bioethanol.
