Six-legged robot runs faster than Usain Bolt
With its unique rotary movement, the OutRunner robot can run at a speed of 72km / h on a treadmill and 40.2km / h in a practical test.

OutRunner does not have a biped-in mechanism like regular robots. Instead there is a system of single monopod legs mounted on two rotating wheels on either side which makes it possible to move in a special way. However, in the actual test, OutRunner even ran faster than the 38.1km / h record for "lightning" Usain Bolt.
An engineer working on the OutRunner project of Robotics Unlimited, said: "The OutRunner special mobility system is inspired by the design of four-legged animals, with the front two legs moving forward and touching. and the two hind legs would lift up and leave the ground, constantly converting energy into kinetic energy that would allow the robot to move forward. "
The Robotics Unlimited team has put their project on the Kickstarter community fundraiser page to fund large-scale OutRunner production as well as upgrade and add remote controls to the machine.
