Two-headed snakes are rare and often do not survive long in nature, according to National Geographic. This situation can make them difficult to hunt. Active snakes depend heavily on smell, if one end smells the prey on the other, it may attack and try to swallow the head. The cause of the snake has two ends similar to the conjoined twins, when the embryo does not separate completely.
