Solar energy pollutes in China
Experts warn that the production of lead-acid batteries to store solar energy will lead to environmental pollution and dangerous diseases in children.
Solar energy is often considered to be an ecologically clean source of energy. However, Chris Cherry, professor of civil and ecological technologies at Tennessy University, found that in developing countries, this source of energy is the source of pollution.
The reason Professor Chris put it is that, in these countries, people use lead-acid batteries to store energy from the sun, thus seriously affecting the environment. For example, in China and India, the solar industry will annually discharge more than 2.4 million tons of lead into the environment.
The battery industry is one of the largest lead consumption industries, employing about 80% of the metal produced in the world. In developing countries, the lead battery industry is growing very fast because they have a huge demand for this cheap battery. The phenomenon of 'lead explosion' involves the dissemination of solar energy and seriously affects people's health and environmental pollution.
Lead pollution causes many consequences, adversely affecting the central nervous system, kidneys, cardiovascular system and reproductive system. Children with high levels of lead in the blood will seriously affect the cognitive process, have active and aggressive behavior.
Chris Cherry studied the state plan for solar energy deployment and forecasted the development situation until 2022. He realized that the lack of technology process in developing countries would lead to Serious leakage of lead during production. For example, when mining, melting and battery manufacturing, in China 33% of this toxic metal has been lost to the environment, while in India is 22%.
The media has reported that, due to lead pollution has reached such a bad level, the Chinese government has been forced to close 583 lead processing plants to produce batteries.
Chris Cherry realizes this sad event: 'If not modernizing the lead battery industry, apply modern technologies to store power sources (as in advanced countries) and bring them into the electricity network'. ', the lead pollution situation in developing countries is worse if the development of the renewable energy industry grows.'
