Songda storms into southern Japan

The first major storm in the season came to southern Japan. Although it has weakened, Songda storm has still caused significant damage to the country struggling with natural disasters in recent times.

When the storm was on its way to southern Japan this morning, the meteorological agency issued a landslide warning in Kagoshima Prefecture, where recent volcanic eruptions made the ground soft and easy to land. . Kagoshima inspired 121 mm yesterday's rainfall. As a result, 15,400 houses lost power and 426 households lost water.

According to Aljazeera, in total, strong winds and heavy rain made at least 58 people injured and 278,000 families without electricity. Tokyo also suffered heavy winds from the storm. Many flights are canceled.

Meanwhile people are worried that Fukushima nuclear plant can not afford to cope with big storms. Fortunately, Songda storm has turned south of this area. However, it still caused heavy rain in Fukushima , raising fears that rainwater would flush radioactive material from this area into the Pacific Ocean.

The management agency of TEPCO has dumped synthetic plastic into the factory to stabilize the situation. Experts say there is still a lot of work to do, but TEPCO needs to ensure that future storms will not release radioactive substances into the environment.
