South Africa: The coldest in the past 20 years

People in some parts of South Africa are experiencing the coldest days with the highest snowfall in more than 20 years.

South Africa's meteorological forecasting agency said that due to the cold weather, many places had heavy snowfall such as the Eastern Cape area, Western Cape, Outeniqua mountain areas, Tsitsikama. This is the coldest weather in South Africa in over two decades.

Nellie Meyer de Hoek, a resident said: 'I've been living here since 1982, I've never seen cold weather and so much snow'.

In the Lesotho region, snow covered the region in just two weekends. Local radio stations also reported that many people were caught in the snow when taking their children to school. Weather is forecast to be better in the next few days.
