Special pink lakes

Most lakes have pink water due to the presence of Dunaliella Salina algae and high salt content, but some lakes have natural water color.

Lake Hillier

Hillier Lake is located in Middle Island, the largest and most prominent island in the Recherche Islands, west Australia. Lake Hillier and Middle Island were discovered in 1812. Thanks to the bright pink color, Lake Hillier makes the island stand out and attract the attention of visitors. The lake is 600m long, surrounded by island vegetation, white sand dunes and eucalypt forest. Scientists believe that the cause of the lake's water is pink because Dunaliella Salina has a lot of water in it. The color of the lake becomes more prominent in the dry season. The lake also has a high salt content, similar to the Dead Sea, making it easy to float on the water. There is a small salt factory and salt harvesting workers 6-7 hours a day. To protect the skin when taking salt in the lake, workers must apply a mixture to the skin to help prevent tissue damage.

Lake Salina de Torrevieja

Salina de Torrevieja and La Salina de La Mata are 2 salt lakes surrounding Torrevieja, a coastal city in Southeast Spain. There is a climate characterized by the two largest salt lakes in Europe forming, the area around the lake is announced by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the healthiest places in Europe. In addition, lake water is also very good for the skin. Due to the development of algae and high salt content, Salina de Torrevieja has pink water like in a fictional film. Like the Dead Sea in Israel, lake water makes it easy for people to float on the water. Local authorities have built a number of factories to exploit salt in the lake and export to many other countries.

Lake Hutt

Hutt is a salt lake located on the northern coast of Hutt River and close to the west coast of Australia. The lake is about 14km long, 2km wide and stretches parallel to the coast. The lake water is pink, or sometimes turns red due to the appearance of Dunaliella Salina algae. Masazirgol or Masazir are salt lakes in the Qaradag region, near Baku, Azerbaijan. The total area of ​​the lake is 10 km 2 . The lake has pink color due to high content of chloride and sulfate in water. A salt factory was built in 2010 here to exploit salt in the lake. The salt expected to be collected is about 1,735 million tons.
