There are two ways to proceed .

Method 1 : Restart the computer, exit all background programs, then use Disk Defragmenter to defragment the disk.

Start the Windows Registry Editor program by going to Run -> typing in Regedit . Scroll to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> RunOnce .

Add a String key, named Defrag , the value is Defrag.exe c: / f

Close Regedit , restart Windows

Disk Defragmenter will work before booting the computer.
