Spyware: Risk of dangerous security for businesses

In 2007, spyware went up to No. 2 after the virus in the most dangerous security risk of 2007 and became a top concern for businesses.

According to the survey results for 1070 enterprises from early 2007 of CompTIA (Computer Technology Industry Association), 55% of enterprises rated spyware as their top concern. Survey respondents said they were struggling with the increase in the number of spyware in the past 12 months. 54% of businesses worry about the vigilance of employees, the main cause of spyware intrusion and infection on computers.

Among the top 5 security risks in 2007 from the survey were attacks that exploited browser bugs with 44% of the votes from businesses. This result comes after a series of security bugs that are considered dangerous in the two most popular browsers, Internet Explorer and especially the bug series from Mozilla FireFox 2 from the beginning of the year.

The security risk of phishing and social networking is not a concern for businesses. Only 5% said they were interested in this issue and 5% noted that remote access (remote access) access was a security risk in 2010.

Survey results from CompTIA also showed that businesses have paid more attention to security issues by increasing investment costs for IT staff to organize training and update security technologies.
