People thought that before the development of advanced vehicles, the old cars such as steam trains died out. But in the tiny village of Kingston, New Zealand is still popular with steam trains, more beautiful than romantic.

In 1860, New Zealand's South Island had many merchants, politicians and immigrants coming to live, earning money from raising sheep, cattle and offering gold. At this time, the vehicles were only very slow, so the rich in the town of Invercargill built the first wooden railway and then the railway connecting Invercargill with the wild forest around Lake Wakatipu most country to transport goods.

In 1878, the railway went to Kingston Village - a beautiful village on the ancient Maori Aboriginal land, now called Takerhaka, the southernmost point of Wakatipu. There are both roads, railways and waterways (steam boats). Thanks to that, the traffic is very convenient. The first trains were American K-Class steamboats going pretty fast and in 1880 reached speeds of up to 80 km / hour; on the hull, the words "fun sightseeing" are called and Kingston airplanes are called for flying faster than birds.
