Strange rainbow in the night

A strange photograph taken by a British photographer shows a rainbow created from the moonlight in the middle of the night.

Chris Walker is on his way home in Richmond, North Yorkshire, England, seeing a rainbow appear in the sky. He said: "I noticed something strange in the sky while driving. The full moon was right behind me, the wind was blowing and the rain just stopped. The moon was so bright that a rainbow sparkled out. up in the sky after the rain ".

Usually the ring bridge is created by the sun when reflected by raindrops, but in this case, the moon has created spectacular rainbow colors.

This phenomenon is extremely rare because it requires the combination of elements such as the very dark sky, the moon at 42 degrees below the sky and the rain falling opposite the moon.

"The moon's light is thousands of times weaker than the sun so the rainbow will be much fainter. It is only visible when the moon is nearly round.
