Strong earthquake in northeastern Indonesia
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in northeastern Indonesia but there are no reports of casualties or damage, Indonesia's meteorological and physical agency said.

The earthquake occurred in the sea at 6:36 pm tonight (May 29, local time) about 40 kilometers southeast of Labuha town on Bacan island in North Maluku province."The earthquake does not cause a tsunami threat ," the agency said. The epicenter lies 33km deep under the sea floor.
The US Geological Survey said the earthquake struck at 6 on the Richter scale while the astronomical agency in Hong Kong said the 6.1-magnitude earthquake.
Indonesia was the hardest hit when the tsunami created in December 2004 killed 168,000 people in Aceh province. Indonesia is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where continental discs meet and tremors often occur.
