Students make 4-wheel vehicles running 200km with a liter of gasoline

A group of students at a university in Dong Nai manufactures 2 fuel-efficient vehicles. One uses gasoline fuel, can go 200km with a liter of fuel.

On January 25, Mr. Le Phuong Long, lecturer of Lac Hong University's Electrical and Mechanical Faculty (Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai) said that the students of the Faculty completed 2 fuel-efficient cars, ready to take them to Singapore to attend. Shell Eco-marathon Asia competition.

According to Mr. Long, two student-made cars include an internal combustion engine vehicle with gasoline fuel and electric cars . Through the testing process at the school, the internal combustion engine car can reach speeds of 40km / h and run over 200km, consuming a liter of gasoline. Electric cars can also reach speeds of 40km / h, running 108km with 1,000W.

Nguyen Ngoc Son, a student of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Lac Hong University, said your team worked for 6 months to build a fuel-efficient vehicle.

'To save fuel, the team must research, find ways to reduce weight, use lightweight materials but still durable enough. The tires are made of carbon fiber, the mechanical part is made of stainless steel , 'said student Nguyen Ngoc Son.

According to the students, they make and many parts use parts of different types of motorcycles in the market. The spare parts will be crafted by students skillfully so that when assembled, it can create a completely new car with low fuel consumption.

In previous years, the students of this school also built cars using alcohol fuel. Through testing, the car can run a distance of 200 km with one liter of alcohol, maximum speed of nearly 50 km / h.

'In the future, the students' controllers and drivers can be selected by the organizing committee to implement the practical application model,' said Mr. Le Phuong Long.

The Shell Eco-marathon is held in March in Singapore with the participation of 100 student teams from the Asia-Pacific and Middle East schools.

The competition is for students who are passionate about creating and looking for advanced translation solutions. The competition poses challenges that require students of global engineering, design, science and technology to overcome the limitations to making the most efficient fuel-efficient vehicle.
