The car can run across the United States with 3.7 liters of gasoline

The car, built by students at Laval University, can run a distance of 4,500km with less than 4 liters of gasoline.

A group of students from Laval University in Quebec, Canada won the first prize in the Shell Eco-marathon Americas in 2017 with a 4,366-mile run from Philadelphia on the East Coast to Los Angeles on the US West Coast with 3, 7 liters of gasoline, Business Insider on 21/5 reported.

This car is powered by a two-horsepower engine that uses a variety of fuels, from gasoline to hydrogen, to optimize efficiency. Lightweight, dynamic design and powerful engine are the three factors that make the car so successful.

On the test run in Detroit, Michigan, the car was accelerated to a speed of 32km / h, before the driver turned off the engine, let the car glide inertia. When the vehicle speed drops to 14km / h, the driver restarts the engine and repeats the strategy.

This innovative and intelligent strategy helped Laval University students pass 114 other teams to win the prize. However, the winning model does not really serve the purpose of daily commute.

This is the group's fourth win since the competition began 11 years ago. In 2016 they also won the car with a performance of one liter of fuel for the distance of 1.098km.

The Shell Eco-marathon Americas 2017 contest brings together over 1,200 students from seven participating countries. Samples must be tested on a distance of about 10 km in Detroit, Michigan and maintain an average speed of about 7 meters per second.
