Students make instant hemostatic substances

An immediate hemostatic gel of an American student can revolutionize the medical field.

Joe Landolina, a 20-year-old young man, is simultaneously studying a biochemical master's program and a bachelor's degree in molecular biology - chemistry from New York University, USA. Recently he has found a recipe for making a gel that can stop bleeding immediately. He called it Veti-Gel.

"In addition to placing a lot of gauze on the wound, people have not found a way to stop the bleeding. If you pour the gel that I made onto the wound, it will become hard and stop the blood immediately" , Landolina told the New York Post.

The student confirmed that Veti-Gel has the ability to block blood from heavy wounds, major arteries and internal organs.

During the study, Landolina collaborated with Isaac Miller, a student who also studied at New York University and will graduate this year.

Veti-Gel simulates the extracellular matrix, which makes the connective tissue so that the animal body forms a block. However, Landolina extracts plant substances to make Veti-Gel. He caused bleeding in the arteries and liver of rats to test gel. The results showed that the bleeding stopped immediately after the gel covered the wound surface.

In the future, Landolina and Miller will test the effects of Veti-Gel on animals living under the supervision of a heart surgeon.
