Successful sketch of detailed map of cassava roots
Chinese scientists from the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences have relied on gene sequencing technology to successfully map the root of the cassava genome.
Chinese scientists from the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences have relied on gene sequencing technology to successfully map the relatively complete genome of cassava roots of three categories KU50, W24 and CAS36. .
This work started in 2006 and completed after one year.
Scientists have adopted a concession to complete the combination of genetic data together.
Successful delineation of the detailed genome map of root cassava from three different categories can help to further understand the basic characteristics of the cassava genetic structure such as linear distribution on chromosomes, the number of genes and their varied variability.
Currently, only the United States has successfully outlined the genetic map of a cassava root.
This result provides data for scientists to apply new technologies to basic research and application of root cassava species.
On the other hand, this also creates the foundation for step by step decoding the molecular regulation mechanism in combating drought and starch storage of cassava species.
At the same time, the research results also bring important scientific significance to the work of ensuring global food security and developing bio-energy resources.
