The US Space Agency (NASA) successfully launched the New Horizons probe to Pluto, the only planet in the Solar System yet to be discovered.

New Horizons was launched at 19:00 (international time) with Atlas 5 rocket on a 10-day journey to Pluto, 5 billion km from Earth.

The $ 700 million probe will collect information about Pluto and its moons. Scientists hope that this information will help discover other objects outside the Solar System as well as about the formation of the Solar System.

So far, Pluto is the only planet unexplored by a probe.

New Horizons was delayed for 2 times in 2 consecutive days due to bad weather and technical difficulties.
