'Super volcano' formed faster than expected
The largest volcanoes on Earth, or "super volcanoes" , take only a few hundred years to form and erupt, not hundreds of thousands of years as scientists previously thought.

The information was published in the scientific journal Public Library of Science ONE , which led to recent research by American scientists.
The study is based on an analysis of a volcanic 'super-eruption' that occurred in eastern California 760,000 years ago, causing half of North America to sink in volcanic ash. Accordingly, this volcanic lava basin has flared up in just a few hundred years of formation.
Scientists say such "super eruptions" could generate thousands of kilometers of soil and rock . several hundred times more than the volcanoes seen in human history.
'Super volcanoes' can also produce enough ash to affect the global climate for many years. Scientists have hypothesized that a similar eruption in Indonesia's Lake Toba about 70,000 years ago had a long-lasting effect, almost completely eradicating people.
At the present time, geologists believe that no huge volcanic lava tank on Earth is at risk of eruption, but they say the study will open new studies in the future to help people predict "super volcanic" battles .
