The disaster when the New Zealand volcano erupted

Simulation graphics show that if the super volcano in Hauraki Bay of New Zealand erupted, the whole city will be completely destroyed.

Professor Colin Wilson, a New Zealand volcanologist, shares pictures simulating the giant volcanic process that eradicates a large city when erupting, Mirror reported. In the video, a big explosion from below the water caused rubble and ash to fly into the air, and created a strong wave that rushed towards Auckland city.

The video was created by Professor Wilson while studying the risks to New Zealand if a volcanic eruption occurred. He discovered that volcanic eruptions on Rangitoto Island in Hauraki Bay erupting would destroy everything in a 2.5km radius and seriously hinder the transportation network.

"Advanced 3D technology and particle effects are combined with the background, creating a realistic perspective on disaster , " said Professor Wilson.

The video was shared by Auckland Museum after Professor Wilson received the Rutherford medal for his study in the volcanic industry. He has spent nearly four decades studying Lake Taupo's volcanoes in New Zealand and Yellowstone in the United States.

The most recent eruption in New Zealand is the wake up Oruanui volcano, creating Lake Taupo more than 25,000 years ago. Experts say that if this happens today, the sound from the eruption can be heard in Australia and the ash will spread far to Antarctica.
