Swiss authorities have just approved the legality of a 3D printed closed box model for euthanasia and will be ready to be put into operation from next year.
Euthanasia is the intentional ending of the life of a person, often in incurable patients, in a manner that is minimally or painless for the benefit of that person.
Sarco euthanasia box model
According to TV channel RT, euthanasia is legal in Switzerland. About 1,300 people in this European country used euthanasia in 2020.
Usually, the patient's life will end through the introduction of liquid sodium pentobarbital, causing them to become deeply comatose before death.
However, Dr. Philip Nitschke, the developer of the Sarco euthanasia box, claims to help his clients achieve their goals quickly and smoothly without the use of drugs.
Specifically, the Sarco sealed box will be filled with nitrogen gas, thereby rapidly reducing the oxygen concentration and causing the person inside to die from lack of oxygen.
The user will feel a bit dizzy, even a slight euphoria before losing consciousness. In an interview with SwissInfo on December 4, Mr. Nitshke confirmed that thanks to this method, death will happen within 30 seconds without feeling suffocated or panic.
This machine is activated from the inside and the person in the euthanasia box can press the decision button by himself without the assistance of others. This box is very portable, so it can be transported to any location of the patient's choice.
According to Mr. Philip Nitschke, the evaluation of the legality of the above euthanasia technology has just been completed without any problems.
The third Sarco euthanasia box is being 3D printed in the Netherlands and will be ready for use in Switzerland from next year.
In the 2020 trailer, Mr. Nitschke intends to not charge a fee to use the technology. He will also publish Sarco's printout on the Internet so that the idea can be replicated around the world.
