Excavation work has allowed to confirm that this is the biggest pit ever discovered in Europe. According to the researchers, the Plateosaurus dinosaur died of being trapped in the swamp when the whole herd passed through the delta that existed 230 million years ago.
The Plateosaurus dinosaurs live in flocks and eat grass. Although walking on 4 feet, they can stand up with their hind legs to eat fruit. They used their forelegs to hold food. The biggest toe has huge claws.
A few weeks ago in the same area, the largest plateosaurus fossil bone has been discovered. It is 8m long and 1/3 larger than the dinosaurs discovered so far.
