Symantec confused the church software as spyware

Picture 1 of Symantec confused the church software as spyware Norton Antivirus anti-virus tool has just been mistakenly identified as software used to create presentations in a spyware-era home, and recommends that the priests remove it.

The Church of England on August 2 had to inform the priests that it should ignore Symantec's mistaken warning after the "deadly" error of Norton Antivirus. It is known that many priests in the UK use a form of software called "Visual Liturgy" to draft lectures and maintain church activities.

On July 8, Symantec issued a warning stating that a new virus had affected Visual Liturgy software. Norton Antivirus's automatic upgrade tool soon identified a component (Sniperspy) of the Visual Liturgy as a spy.

After installing the upgrade of Norton Antivirus, the recommended user confirmed Sniperspy as a threat and had to delete a related file called vlutils.dll. Removing this file will make the Visual Liturgy useless.

Symantec has yet to comment on the confusion.
