Symantec launched the new generation anti-virus software application
This week at Symantec Vision conference, security firm Symantec will introduce the next generation enterprise antivirus software called Endpoint Protection 11.0.
Under the code name "Hamlet", the new product has been allocated to a limited number of users since March, and this week will be released widely. Hamlet will be the next version after AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.
The new software is a major upgrade that Symantec has been working on for over a year in an effort to integrate firewalls, zero-day protection functions and network access control into its antivirus products.
In addition to improving operational capabilities, Hamlet also has a friendly, easy and easy-to-manage user interface.
Hamlet includes source code from two recent Symantec mergers: firewall features based on Sygate Enterprise Protection software that Symantec acquired in 2005; and a new feature called SONAR that Symantec acquired from Whole Security in 2005.
Meanwhile, Symantec's rival McAfee also plans to launch a similar competing product this week. The price of the commercial version of Hamlet has yet to be announced.
