Symantec developed anti-phishing software
Symantec's June 26 statement said it will introduce a trial version of anti-phishing security software in September to help users combat e-commerce fraud and online banking.
It's Norton Confidential software, which helps detect a malicious website or program trying to steal user names or passwords. This is Symantec's latest effort while forms of cybercrime, especially online scams, are rising.
Norton Confidential will scan websites visited by users to detect "suspicious" behaviors. The software will also create warnings for phishing sites to prevent users from performing actions that could be dangerous to their data safety.
In addition to phishing detection, Norton Confidential can also scan for Trojan programs, such as keylog programs. The software will conduct validation of the website by using SSL encryption technology to prevent hackers from faking SSL pages (often used to secure connections when performing secure transactions. high online).
Norton Confidential also has the ability to encrypt stored passwords and display warnings when references are sent to strange or illegal sites.
Symantec will provide a copy of Norton Confidential's Mac in October with similar functionality to the Windows version. Norton Confidential's price has not been announced yet.
