Symantec sells security packages for smart phones
Next week, Symantec will expand its line of mobile security products with new applications designed for devices using Microsoft Windows Mobile platforms.
This smartphone security package will have two versions: Norton Mobile Security for Smartphones - for consumers, and Symantec Mobile Security 5.0 - for businesses. Both versions will be announced on May 29th.
Previously, Symantec used to sell software packages for Symbian-based mobile phones, as well as anti-virus software for Windows Mobile, but newly announced products support more security features. so many, so much.
New Windows Mobile software includes antivirus, anti-spam, firewall, data encryption (data security protection even when the phone is stolen). Symantec will also sell additional VPN (virtual private network) components to users who want to securely connect to the enterprise server.
The enterprise version also has an IT management feature that allows you to delete data on the phone remotely, or lock certain features of the phone, making others (when the phone is lost) unable to use it. OK.
Norton Mobile Security for Smartphones is sold for $ 49.99, while Mobile Security 5.0 is $ 79.99. According to Symantec's representative, the company will launch a similar 5.0 upgrade for Symbian smartphone software within 6 months.
