The unique beach is located close to the 10-storey hotel called Palazzo Versace in the process of construction. Engineers will build a heat-absorbing pipeline system under the sand and giant wind-blown equipment so visitors will always enjoy the cool feeling, even in days with temperatures up to 40- 50 degrees C.

Palazzo Versace will begin to open at the end of next year or early 2010. The hotel will be controlled by thermostat devices connected to the computer system. Besides the beach, Palazzo Versace also has a cold pool.

However, the project faces opposition from those interested in the greenhouse effect, because the beach's huge cooling system and the hotel will release a large amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Rachel Noble, expert of Tourism Concern organization (international organization against negative issues in tourism), commented: 'Dubai is like a fantasy world. In that place, every urgent matter of mankind, such as global warming, is ignored so that the rich can continue to enjoy the luxurious life. '

The project to build a cold beach will add to the attractiveness of Dubai for the super-rich class throughout the planet. Dubai is also home to the world's first 7-star hotel called Burj Al Arab. The expansion of the Islamic state of the United Arab Emirates is contributing to increasing atmospheric CO2. On average, people living in Dubai produce 44 tons of CO 2 each year.

Despite concerns about the environment, the project owner built Palazzo Versace hotel affirmed that the cold beach will not cause bad impacts on the atmosphere. 'We only absorb the heat of sand and maintain a moderate temperature so that people can lie on the beach. Super rich people want to enjoy the unique feeling. They don't want to go for a walk on the hot sand, 'said Soheil Abedian, the hotel president.

Hyder Consulting, a British construction consultancy company, will supervise the construction process. Investors hope Palazzo Versace hotel will help Dubai attract about 800,000 British tourists each year.
