The 'eye of god' from heaven

The US surveillance plane is so modern that it can identify the phone in a person's hand when flying at altitudes above 5,300 meters, thanks to the powerful ARGUS-IS network camera.

The new system can be mounted on reconnaissance aircraft, equipped with the ability to track the most dynamic city-wide movements in the Google Street View online application.

According to ARGUS-IS, an area of about 39km 2 is set at an impressive resolution of 1,800MP - which is 225 times more sensitive than the camera of the iPhone.

ARGUS-IS works by combining 368 digital video camera chips into one. The processor on the plane will synthesize video from these chips and produce ultra-high-resolution video, up to 15 frames per second.

Thus, from a height of 5,300 meters, the new surveillance system can capture any object of size 15 cm or more, allowing commanders to monitor all movements on the battlefield instantly.

This is a system designed by a BAE military contractor, under a $ 18.5 million project funded by the Pentagon's Advanced Defense Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
