BBC yesterday reported, Bert William, a 71-year-old fisherman from Prenton, Wirral, England, caught a cod weighing more than 42 kg in the waters off Norway. The weight of the fish is only 4.5 kg lower than the current world record . Before that, Williams pulled the line on the boat engine and thought a dolphin just bit the bait.
" I have to be very careful to get the fish out of the water. I don't have the strength to lift it myself. The two tour guides helped me pull it on the boat and the whole process took 25 minutes ." Williams, who started fishing at age 6, said he had caught a larger sail, weighing 82 kg.
Not only is the biggest cod caught by British fishermen, this is also the biggest fish caught by a patient . Williams has a history of heart disease. The world's heaviest cod fish weighs 47 kg and bites a Swedish fisherman.
