Tourists race to a village in northern Nigeria to admire the first house made of plastic and sand.

Nigerian Renewable Energy Development Association erected the first "plastic bottle house" on the land owned by a Greek businessman in Yelwa village, Kaduna state, Nigeria. The workers poured sand into the bottles and placed them overlapping in a horizontal position. Then they mount the muddy bottles. The house has a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, a toilet and a bathroom. About 7,800 bottles of scrap are used to make it, the BBC said.

Several hundred people, including government officials, arrived in Yelwa village to watch the house. They learn how to wall-shaped arches - a popular wall pattern in northern Nigeria. The wall brings true beauty to the house.

'I was surprised to hear that the house was erected from plastic bottles. So I came here to see it. "It's like a magic trick," says Nuhu Dangote, a tourist from the Nigerian city of Kaduna.

25 similar homes will spring up in Yelwa village and people can rent them. The base of the houses is made of cement. Hotels and restaurants are the supply of plastic bottles. Many homeless children are hired to sand into plastic bottles.

Plastic molding was born nine years ago in India, South America and Central America. Homes built with plastic bottles can not only replace brick houses, but also bring many benefits to the environment.

Yahaya Ahmed, an expert with the Nigerian Renewable Energy Development Association, says the cost of building a plastic bottle is one-third the size of a brick-and-cement house. It's also much more durable.

Plastic grains have nearly 20 times better sand strength than brick. We also want to build a three-storey house from a plastic bottle , "Ahmed said.

After completing 25 plastic bottles, Nigeria's Renewable Energy Development Association will continue to use plastic and sand bottles to set up a school for homeless children in Yelwa.
