A 12-year-old boy in South Korea became the latest victim of refrigerated liquid nitrogen food, reported on August 3.

The victim was taken to the city hospital by the father after an abnormal sign. After being operated by surgeons to treat a 5cm hole in the stomach, the victim is transferred to the intensive care area. The police surmised that the boy had drunk liquid nitrogen at the bottom of the cup before. This dangerous food restaurant has been closed during the investigation.

Liquid nitrogen is added to a number of dishes, especially cocktails at parties, for cooling as well as to create smoke. This technique quickly spread throughout the bars and restaurants around the world.

Nitrogen is a colorless, liquefied gas when the temperature drops to -196 degrees Celsius or lower. The emitted smoke is small droplets that form when liquid nitrogen cools, condensing water vapor in the air.

Liquid nitrogen can cause cold skin burns. Users of liquid nitrogen must be properly trained to ensure safety."Liquid nitrogen is a very dangerous substance if not handled properly , " said Dr. John Ashton, director of public health Cumbria, UK.

A similar incident occurred in New Delhi in July, followed by a ban on the sale of liquid nitrogen food in the Indian capital. In 2012, British doctors had to remove the stomach and directly connected the esophagus to the small intestine of Gaby Scanlon after she used cocktails treated with liquid nitrogen in the 18th birthday party held at the bar.
