The first transplant patient will become familiar with the new body with virtual reality

An American company makes virtual reality systems that help early transplant patients familiarize themselves with body movement after the surgery is completed.

Professor Sergio Canavero has announced a virtual reality system to help patients undergo head graft surgery to get used to life in a new body at a meeting held in Scotland on November 18, according to The Sun.

He plans to perform the world's first human head transplant surgery next year. Professor Canavero believes that this method will help patients become paralyzed from the neck down to restore mobility.

However, if successful, the surgery can still cause "unexpected psychological reactions" in patients when they become familiar with the new body. Therefore, Inventum Bioengineering Technologies of the United States has built a virtual reality system to help them practice other body movements. Patients will have to attend training sessions for months before the surgery takes place.

"We combine the latest advances in virtual reality technology to create the first protocol in the world, helping patients get used to body movement after the transplant surgery is completed , " Alexander said. Pavlovcik, CEO of Inventum, introduced.

Russian patient Valery Spiridonov, who volunteered for the first graft surgery, also expressed confidence in the technology.

"Virtual reality simulation is important because this type of system helps patients learn to move quickly and effectively. I am a computer scientist myself, so I am very sure this is the necessary technology. for project grafting , " Spiridonov said.
