Specifically, the patient originally called A came to Venezuela earlier this year. After 2 days of returning to his hometown of Dallas in Texas, he had a rash and conjunctivitis. Patient A relates not to use protective measures with his partner B who causes B "to appear common symptoms of Zika including conjunctivitis" . Blood tests show that both men are infected with the virus.

Patient B had never traveled abroad, never went to areas attacked by Zika or exposed to mosquitoes that transmitted viruses, so scientists concluded that sex was the cause of his illness. However, it is unclear how long the virus survives and how to get out of the semen.

The above finding does not change CDC's current Zika prevention instructions. The organization recommends that couples should use condoms or abstain from sex for at least 6 months if the man ever went to the Zika area and got sick. Even without symptoms, the couple should still wear a condom or stop having sex for at least 8 weeks.
