The girl who turns wood
7-year-old Luciana from Bolton City (England) is one of 200 people on the planet who has a strange disease that causes her body to freeze in a position: 'woodchildren' disease.
The ' woodchemist ' disease is scientifically named Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). The 'wood' here is essentially the bones of people who suffer from malignant disease, which causes their muscles to 'bone'. Until now, scientists have not been able to find a cure for the disease.

Luciana Wulkan is currently a member of Rainbow Charity. He likes to go to school, meet friends and especially like riding.
Luciana's mother, Pina, said she noticed the distortion of the girl's legs at birth - a characteristic sign of people with FOP. Luciana's neck was also attached, which meant that as a child, Luciana's neck could not support her own head. Pina said that taking care of a child with FOP requires great care and care because if Luciana breaks a bone, she will be ' exploded ': a new bone will sprout on the injury and make her condition worse .
Last year, Luciana grew a new, dangerous bone under her chin, causing Luciana's jaw to tighten and she could not eat or drink. In similar cases, FOP patients had to remove teeth. However, it is fortunate that this bone has shown signs of lowering and no longer causes anxiety. For Luciana, childhood and adolescence will be the most difficult time because FOP disease is the most intense in these 2 development periods. To treat ' bursts ', the last option is to use steroids.
When Luciana's condition deteriorated, she could be twisted and froze in a position forever. If you're lucky, your baby may choose his or her own posture, otherwise his body will have to do it.
According to Professor Paul Wordsworth, of the Nuffield Orthopedic Center (Oxford City), when a person gets increasingly " bone ", they have to decide what to do in the future. In other words, before the body can't move, they have to decide whether the rest of their life they want to stand or sit.
Luciana will have to choose whether she wants to stand or sit for the rest of her life.
