Laboratory of key gene technology (Photo: VNE) Started construction in 2001, the key laboratory of gene technology will be the place to carry out researches, topics on creating and building banks, Genome mapping, participating in genetic research programs in the country and internationally, contributing to the development of bioinformatics . This is also a place for master and doctoral training in biotechnology. The laboratory will always open to individuals, college students to research or graduate thesis.

Room is equipped with more than 130 locomotives. The number of devices reached more than 700, with 200 types of accessories. These devices are all of the most advanced generation and first appeared in Vietnam. The system is divided into 3 clusters to serve researches in the field of genomics, protein system and bioinformatics. To train human resources to serve the laboratory, the Institute has trained 3 doctors and 13 masters.

Mr. Le Tran Binh, Director of the Institute of Biotechnology, said that since the equipment of the key laboratory, the Institute has implemented many projects and projects at the state, ministerial level and national projects. sacrifice. There are 3 typical topics with great significance. That is the topic of applying DNA technology in the assessment of martyrs' remains, the topic of building detection techniques and technological processes to produce vaccines against A / H5N1 virus for chickens and humans, and research topics. about the effects of Agent Orange.

Thanks to its modern equipment , the Institute has appraised more than 100 martyrs' remains and returned the correct names to 47 unknown martyrs. The Institute also actively participated in the identification and decoding of the A / H5N1 influenza virus gene when the disease broke out in 2003-2004. In addition, the Institute has successfully built a technological process to produce vaccines against A / H5N1 virus on the basis of international vaccine strains.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Thang, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, stated: "The key laboratory of gene technology was successfully built is the result of highly effective management work. dynamic, creative and highly qualified staff ".

Mr. Thang said that with modern facilities no less than that area, the Institute needs to improve its duties to the region. Besides receiving the topic from the state, the Institute can propose and design the research to promote the strength of the key laboratory and be consistent with the characteristics of Vietnam.
