The comb can remove the tangle easily, easily
Scott Shim and colleagues at Ohio State University designed the "maze comb" with 3D printing. The name of the product comes from the structure of the plastic layers are bent in a labyrinth, flexible and easy to separate to take away tangled hair or dirt.
Usually, a family hair comb is used for six months to a year and is discarded when the user thinks it is too dirty. Scott Shim said the labyrinth will limit this because cleaning them is simple.

"We do not want people to throw away a good comb just because they are afraid to clean it," CTV News quoted Shim as saying on Sept. 2, emphasizing the eco-friendliness of the comb. He said that when designing a watch, his wife had to clean the brush regularly.
"I do not understand why she has to do it, I do not," he laughed, referring to his bald head. "Then I made some small investigations and found that the hair brushes were often discarded, not because they were outdated, but because they were not properly preserved."
Normal hair combs are made in several parts and then assembled together. Meanwhile, the design of the maze can simplify the production process based on the prefabricated model.
Experts are researching different prototypes on 3D printers and manually combining them. However using 3D printers will limit the use of conventional plastics, so they are looking for more flexible plastic materials for mass production in the future.
