The largest piece of meteorite that attacked Russia that scientists have not found a fall site can weigh several tons and size up to several meters.
Russian scientists have confirmed this based on the theoretical calculations of experts of the Astrophysics Laboratory of the Institute of Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Meteorite debris in Russia can reach tons with a few meters in size.
Deputy head of laboratory Dmitri Badiulov said: 'We claim that the meteorite is not less than a few meters' and its search is still underway.
Scientists have collected 450 meteorite fragments, but they are very fragile, the total weight is only 3.5kg.
Meanwhile, Chelyabinski city government estimated that about 10% of the mass of the meteorite fell to Earth but it was mainly picked up by residents, kept or sold to repair damaged houses. This number ranges from 100 to 500kg.
The meteorite was placed in the Urals region, a common name, 'Chelyabinsk meteorite', although scientists initially suggested calling the "Chebakul meteorite".
