The last rhino in Vietnam was shot dead?

According to Professor Le Nguyen Ngat, a lecturer in the Department of Biology at Hanoi University of Education, there is a sad reality in Vietnam that the ability of the wild animals to follow the footsteps of the scientific team is still far from those of poachers. Funding for scientists is not enough to regularly conduct forest animal surveys and if so, each survey usually lasts no more than 7 days.

'With such a limited time, the chance of encountering many rare and precious animals is very low, although local people say that they still meet them in the forest, ' said Professor Ng.

Meanwhile, in order to get super-profitable items like rhino horns, the oligarchs are willing to pay the locals a much higher price than the state subsidies for scientists.

With a low standard of living and attachment to mountains and forests, people in remote villages are willing to spend months of forest retreating to receive these funds. To them, being called poachers is not a big loss.

How many rhinos have been shot dead? This question will probably never be answered. But according to some expert opinions, most likely, the rhino shot dead and discovered in Cat Tien National Forest is the last individual rhino in Vietnam.
