The longest lava cave in Southeast Asia in Vietnam

Since February 2013, scientists have conducted a preliminary survey of cave lava origin groups in Tan Phu district (Dong Nai province).

The survey team comprised scientists from the Institute of Tropical Biology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) and Berlin Cave Association (Federal Republic of Germany) conducted a survey of a total of 11 lava tubes / lava with a total dimension 1.8 km long. Of these, the longest cave is found in Bat Cave, which is separated by collapse, fracture, creating two caves: Hang Doi 1 and Hang Doi 2.

In Hang Doi 1 there is a longest section (426m), continuous, no fault, the place is recorded as the widest of the cave with a height of up to 4m and a width of 10m. If this is considered to be the only cave of the system (including the collapse), this cave section has a total length of 534m and is considered the longest lava dungeon in Southeast Asia until the time. currently (longer than Indonesia's Gua Lawah lava tube (400m).

Besides, the delegation also noted the rich life in these caves, with many kinds of animals, such as bats, spider species, centipedes, scorpions, crickets, flies, many species. frogs, mammals .

This finding is expected to be published by the Berlin Cave Society as a full report in English, including: map section and description of caves and will be published in the association's speleological Berlin Speleoclub publication. .
