Tony Glover is a gardener living in Moira, Derbyshire county. The onion bulb he grows weighs about 8.5kg, the largest bulge is 81cm in size, 25 times that of a big onion. The world's largest recognized onion tuber previously weighs less than 300 grams.
According to Express, giant onions can be processed 250 bhajee, French onion soup for 36 people, or cooked 50 pieces of onion-fried onion.
Glover said he started growing onions in the greenhouse since October last year, where temperatures are warm in the winter, cool in the summer and have his own lighting system. High-protein care and moderate humidity are "know-how" for onion growth.
Glover's plan is to use giant onion seeds to continue harvesting larger and heavier onions next year.
