The new paint helps halve the amount of toilet flush

US researchers have found a way to reduce the amount of water needed for each toilet flush by half.

In a study published in the journal Nature Sustainability on November 18, scientists at Pennsylvania State University developed a water-resistant and antibacterial liquid paint, used to coat the inside of a toilet bowl, It helps to clean the toilet itself , so that it doesn't need as much water as it does now.

With this coating, the toilet will save considerable amount of water per flush.

The coating process consists of 2 steps. In the first painting, molecular grafted polymer compounds create a smooth and waterproof surface. This compound, when dry, helps create molecules that look like tiny hairs, with a diameter about 1 million times smaller than a human hair. Then, the second coat of applied compound will apply a thin layer of lubrication around the hairs to create a super-smooth surface.

Dr Wang Jing, co-author of the study, said: 'When we sprayed this coating on a toilet toilet in the lab and poured synthetic waste into it, the synthetic waste completely went down and nothing in the toilet anymore '.

This compound coating process takes less than 5 minutes to create a slippery surface and knock away bacteria, especially those that cause infectious diseases and unpleasant odors.

With this coating, the toilet will save considerable amount of water per flush. The researchers estimate this coating is 'sufficient' for about 500 flush toilets before a new layer of toilet is needed.
