About 30 minutes after the earthquake, a magnitude 2.6 aftershock happened. According to the US Geological Survey, the possibility of an aftershock of up to 5 on the Richter scale is likely. Even aftershocks can last for a few weeks.

On social networks, many Californians shared a feeling of ground shaking. The US Seismic Survey estimates that about 15,000 people in California feel very strong vibrations, while more than 1 million people experience vibrations ranging from strong to moderate.
