The syndrome caused doctors to almost autopsy the living

The Spanish man was declared dead because three doctors suddenly regained consciousness on the table of autopsies due to a strange syndrome.

A 29-year-old man named Gonzalo Montoya Jiménez , a prisoner in a prison in the Asturias region, Spain, was found dead by three different doctors. But when he was in the morgue, Jimnene made a snore a few hours later, Science Alert reported on January 12.

Jiménez had clearly regained consciousness just hours before doctors performed autopsies. The Jimnez family said there were marks on his body to prepare for surgery. Luckily before the process started, Jimnez showed signs of being alive and quickly moved to a nearby hospital.

It has almost never happened that the three medical experts who misdiagnosed it in such a serious situation. But hospital sources say it could be because a man has an abnormal syndrome called catalepsy . This syndrome is characterized by inactivity, reduced pre-stimulant reactions and sufferers tend to remain immobile, according to the National Biotechnology Information Center (NCBI).

Usually, vital signs of the body, such as breathing and heart rate, drop to very low levels, so the doctor can hardly detect this syndrome. The patient's limbs are usually left in the original posture, easily confused with the stiff corpse, the third stage of the death process.

Occurrence can sometimes be a symptom of epilepsy , the disease Jiméz has. He could forget to take the medication a few weeks earlier due to being in prison, according to the Jiménez family.

When Jimnez regained consciousness, the first thing he said was asking to meet his wife. Doctors said Jimnez's brain was deprived of oxygen for a while, but he could still talk and remember everything. Those are good signs.
