The UN urges businesses to protect the environment

The United Nations Environment Conference held in Singapore on April 19 emphasized the crucial role of business and commerce in mitigating the impacts of climate change on the living environment of people by strictly complying with environmental protection regulations.

A UN workshop on the application of safety measures to mitigate climate change impacts was held shortly after the April 19 conference. It is easy to see that even though companies around the world are beginning to realize the benefits of environmental protection, not all companies are involved in protecting the environment adequately.

A late 2006 report by the British government warned that climate change will lead to economic difficulties. People fear that these impacts will result in the crisis of 1930 unless necessary actions are taken now.

George Kell, executive director of the UN Global Treaty Organization, said that when the organization was born in 2000, there were about 50 companies and corporations joining as members.

Up to now, the number of members has increased to 4000 and from more than 100 countries. The Global Treaty Organization is the first organization to bring together global companies and corporations to support social and environmental policies.

During the meeting, Mr. Kell called on the world's leading corporations and businesses to "take the issue of environmental protection and limit industrial pollution pollution to the top priority in their production process." .
