The US and Russia have signed an agreement to protect the technology related to the launch of a satellite program called "Sea Launch", which means "launch a satellite from the sea".

Mr. Robert Joseph, US Deputy Secretary of State in charge of arms control and international security, and Yuriy Ushakov, the Russian ambassador to the US, signed the agreement on March 21 in Washington.

The US State Department said the deal helped Russia cooperate and participate more in the use of outer space for peace and trade goals.

The project " Satellite launch from the sea " is a consortium led by the Boeing Company of the US and includes companies of Norway, Russia and Ukraine.

This complex conducts commercial satellite launches from a launcher located in international waters in the Pacific Ocean. This project has carried out 19 satellite launches since 1999 up to now.
