The woman's remains have hair and nails left after 900 years

The owner of the Song Dynasty was buried with many sophisticated jewelry such as gold and silver brooches, bracelets, and pearl necklaces.

The well-preserved skeleton of the woman nicknamed "The Great Lady" was found in a double-layered coffin filled with water inside the tomb in the village of Thiet Que, China, Live Science reported on October 14. . The coffin is 900 years old.

The group discovered the remains were buried with many burial items, including a small furniture model house inside like a dollhouse and a silver pendant engraved with pearls. The words on the lid of the inner coffin indicate that the tomb owner is a "Grandmother" living in An Khang. Although a woman's real name is difficult to identify with the words, archaeologists think it might be Née Jian .

The Lady's skeleton is quite well preserved with hair and nails, according to a report published in the Chinese Cultural Heritage magazine. She still wears gold and silver brooches on her head, bracelets and a chain consisting of 83 copper coins in her belly. Beneath the woman's right hand, there were traces of two trophies and embroidered shoes.

In the inner coffin with many pictures of a woman, most likely the Great Lady. Each portrait depicts her wearing different costumes and jewelry. Suggestions to help the team determine the time the Lady lived from 200 copper coins at the bottom of the coffin. These coins were cast around 713 - 1100. The woman certainly died before 1100, meaning that she lived under the Song, the period of prosperity of art and science and technology in China.

Other notable artifacts in the tomb of the Lady include 10 female figures wearing masks and playing musical instruments. The tomb was excavated from June to September 2014. The excavation team consisted of archaeologists from the Nam Lang Cultural Heritage Agency and the Anhui Cultural and Archaeological Heritage Institute.
