Director of the Balochistan Department of Minerals, Mr. Maqbool Ahmed, said that two Canadian and Chilean multinational companies have completed the exploration of the site and outlined a project to exploit gold and copper here.

In the first phase, Ahmed said, the two companies will invest $ 1 billion in the project. Each year 200,000 tons of copper and 400,000 ounces of gold will be produced from the project, providing jobs for 3,000 Balochistan workers. The provincial government will be allocated 25% of the mining profits.

According to Ahmed, in addition to the above copper and gold mines, there are many gold mines in the Zhob and Lasbela districts of the province and there have been 9 multinational companies licensed to explore these gold mines.
