The discovery of two merging black holes is quite common in the scientific community. However, a group of international researchers are confused when they encounter three giant black holes on the impetus . This cluster of black holes is collectively referred to as SDSS J0849 + 1114 . The researchers classify them as active galactic nuclei (AGNs). They conducted detailed observations of SDSS J0849 + 1114 with the Hubble Space Telescope, Chandra X-ray Observatory and Radio Interferometer.

Using data gathered from the device group, the team concluded that three black holes are trapped in each other's orbit. The surrounding gas clouds provide food for the black hole cluster to move at 500-1,000 km / sec. The observed results indicate that as black holes continue to rotate around each other, their clusters will shrink gradually until they hit each other. This extreme collision can happen within two billion years.

Although the clash is sure to happen, the team is not sure what will happen later. They hypothesize that the trio will form a super mass black hole or only two black holes merged. If this is the first case, the event could explain the nature of the giant black hole core found in elliptical galaxies like M87. According to the team, similar black hole systems may be more common in the early universe, when galaxies merged more often.
