Please pay attention to the tips below to know how to properly preserve each different food and still keep the nutrients and freshness for the longest.

Green vegetables

Do: Pick up the root, remove the dead leaves.

Maximum storage time: 4-7 days.

Methods of preservation

  1. Wash green vegetables if you need to save time in preliminary processing, remember to drain thoroughly before storing in the refrigerator.
  2. Put in an airtight container lined with tissue paper, cover with a layer of paper on top of vegetables and store in the refrigerator.
  3. Some green vegetables such as water spinach, celery, vegetables . can be wrapped tightly with foil before storing to keep vegetables fresh longer.

Note

Vegetables should not be washed through water before storing in the refrigerator, but should be covered to avoid affecting other types.

Onion, cilantro, tomato, chili

Do: Wash and dry thoroughly before storing in the refrigerator.

Maximum storage time: 1-3 weeks depending on type

Methods of preservation

  1. Wash onions, herbs. and remove the roots and shriveled leaves.
  2. Drain, store in an airtight container lined with dry paper if used frequently.
  3. Cut into small pieces according to your needs, store in an airtight container in the freezer if you want to preserve it for a long time (3-4 months).

Note

  1. Fresh peppers can be frozen for best preservation for 10-12 months.
  2. If stored in the refrigerator, tomatoes and peppers can be stored for about 3-7 days.

Ginger, lemon, lemongrass, garlic

Maximum storage time: 3-4 months

Methods of preservation

  1. For lemongrass, cut off the roots and tops, wash, remove the old leaves, cut into pieces and put them in freezer bags and can be stored for 3-4 months in the freezer, 2-4 weeks in the refrigerator.
  2. Similar to ginger, wash, peel and slice then store in freezer bags, store for 3-4 months in the freezer.
  3. Lemons stay fresh for up to 4 weeks in the refrigerator if stored in an airtight container. If you want to freeze lemons, squeeze out the juice and store in an ice tray or airtight container for up to 3-4 months.
  4. With garlic, you don't need to refrigerate it, don't put it in an airtight container or bag, just put it in a basket or keep it in a cool place to avoid mold.

Bread

Maximum storage time: 1-3 weeks

Methods of preservation

  1. Outside of room temperature, bread can be stored for about 3-5 days. If you want the quality of the cake to keep for the longest time, cut a few stalks of celery into a bag of bread, tie it up.
  2. Bread can be kept for 1-3 weeks when stored in the freezer. Put the bread in a zip bag, squeeze out all the air, and seal it. When you need to use it, you just need to cut it up and steam it or bake it.

Ideal storage time: 3-5 days

Methods of preservation

No need to wash these vegetables with water, you just need to wrap them in paper and put them in an airtight container (optional) and keep them in the fridge for 3-5 days.

With zucchini, pumpkin, can be left whole outside at room temperature for about 3-5 days. However, once you have peeled and cut it, it must be covered and stored in the refrigerator for another 3-5 days.

With multi-vitamin bell peppers, without pre-washing, can be stored in an airtight container and stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.
